Capacity Building

Build cyber leadership and operational capability at every level.

The institutional challenge

Cybersecurity skills are scarce. Many information-security teams have limited background in areas such as incident response and threat analysis, because cybersecurity education was previously not well developed.

Management teams and team leaders must be onboarded too: relying on technical experts alone is not an option. Learning is a continuous process that encompasses awareness, training, education and experience.

What ACRC does

ACRC delivers executive and operational programmes for Boards, leaders, regulators and cyber teams:

  • Executive programmes
  • Operational training for cyber teams
  • GSSI-BIF (three cohorts)
  • Programmes for central banks

Expected outcome

Progressive growth in cybersecurity maturity, from awareness to assessment to remediation.

A programme for microfinance institutions and fintechs

Launched in partnership with national or regional professional associations of microfinance and fintech, this framework draws on ACRC's experience with financial-inclusion institutions to support their progressive growth in cybersecurity maturity in three steps: awareness, assessment and remediation. It can be adapted to local contexts and regulations.

The framework spans essential services such as:

  • Raising management, employees and customers awareness
  • Training the technical team
  • Cybersecurity online self-assessment or consultant-assisted assessment
  • Vulnerability scanning
  • Cyber hygiene: standard policies, webinars, open-source tools
  • Information and best-practices sharing
  • CISO “on demand” (Chief Information Security Officer)
  • Security monitoring

A specific layer supports fintechs in understanding and implementing application-security guidelines, with a technical maturity assessment and specialised training.
